FRIENDS Christmas Episodes To Binge This Holiday

Went to the store, sat on Santa’s lap
Asked him to bring my friends all kinds of crap
Said all you need is to write them a song
Now you haven’t heard it yet so don’t try to sing along
No, don’t sing along.
-Who other than.. ‘Phoebe Buffay’

Ranking Best F.R.I.E.N.D.S Christmas Episodes

11) “The One With All the Candy” | Season 7, Episode 9

There’s not much going on in this episode just instances where We found ourselves laughing when Monica’s sweet gesture of cookie giving turns to be an angry neighbor mob (including Joey) demanding for more cookies. The main story revolves around Phoebe who learns to ride a bike after so much effort by Ross. seeing her fulfill her childhood dream, makes us teary-eyed. Of course, if it is one thing friends is known for, it is making us Laugh and Cry at the same time..!! Well, nothing much of Christmas is shown except Monika having a Christmas Tree.

10) “The One With Ross’s Step Forward” | Season 8, Episode 11

(also known as “The One With The Creepy Holiday Card“)

Although an excellent episode, it doesn’t carry much for a holiday spirit. While it is the first Christmas of Monica and Chandler’s married life they seem to be frustrated and annoyed with Chandler’s new boss.. Well, what exactly was Chandler’s job? is still a mystery but one thing we do know.. He had a fair share of horrible bosses.

It is funny seeing phoebe trying to jumble through pregnant and much horny..Rachel..!! Her hormones are kicking in and are now directed to..only one thing.. Well, actually one person Joey..!! this was an exciting and significant plot twist. It is the beginning to a story that had the most debatable audience. Throughout the show’s history, it was this pairing that had the biggest for-against battle for me, on one side I loved how cute they looked together especially after knowing, Matt Le Blanc (Joey) really had a crush on her in real life. On the other wanting them to be together felt like cheating on our favorite couple- Ross and Rachel.. I mean of course, they were bound to be together..!! Duhhh.

Only Ross is seen here having that holiday storyline as he is avoiding having that ‘ where are we’ conversation and ends up sending joint Christmas cards with Mona and saying ‘ I Love You’ohhh Ross being Ross.

9) “The One With the Monkey” | Season 1, Episode 10

As the name says, it was when Marcel, the monkey came into the story. Not ideally, a Christmas episode, but it is full of snow, dresses, party and of course laughter. The group is seen as making a pact of no dates but somehow fails to follow it, especially Chandler who gets together with Janice ( broo I’ve never seen any more annoying character than Janice..!! ) . Even after that, by the end, all end up being single and Joey kissing Chandler..!! Hahaha that’s right..

8) “The One With the Inappropriate Sister” | Season 5, Episode 10

Bringing a little incest in the festive mood, this episode could be called an Sorry..!!

But that is the main plot of the episode, as Danny, Rachels’s boyfriend has a ‘ unique sibling bond’ with his sister Krista..Ahemm ahemm… But u know, what we laugh the hardest, it was Joey’s delayed realization about knowing they are siblings, but again he is also the one who patches up Ross and Chandler with a play, “Could I be any more sorry?” ( I love that idiotic guy..!!)

In the Christmas spirit, Phoebe decides to volunteer for Salvation Army by collecting donations even though if it includes shouting at old ladies..!! Trust me, nothing is ever predictable with Phoebe..

7) “The One with Monica’s Boots” | Season 8, Episode 10

Suffering after making a wrong shoe decision, is something almost every girl has experienced at least once. I could totally relate with Monika who wears designer shoes to Chandler’s Christmas party and later regretted it. But it was terrific for us, as we get to see Chandler carry Monika in arms in a romantic scene.

While Phoebe desperately tries to get a glimpse of Ben’s classmate’s parent and joey’s sister coming to Rachel for advice. On the whole, it was an entertaining episode.

6)“The One With the Routine” | Season 6, Episode 10

Woah, this was definitely funny and best if anyone wants to know what Geller’s spirit of competition is. Though the subplot, where the whole gang is searching for Christmas gifts hidden by Monica is quite interesting and funny; but what steals the show is the dance routine of Monica and Ross. I promised myself once in my life, I’m going to learn and perform that (in my room obviously) that dory dynamic obsession of Gellers really makes the episode worth a watch.

( A scene where Rachel flirts with Gunther to get a hint of the gifts is seen in the first airing of the episode. But it is cut from the re-runs, I don’t know why ?)

5) “The One With the Holiday Armadillo” | Season 7, Episode 10

Ross and his love for crazy animals..!! Seriously what is with him and those scary-looking tailed beasts..or what Chandler calls it … weird … turtle … man?!?

When the store runs out of Santa’s costume, Ross decides to replace it with Armadillo. Really..?? Santa to Armadillo I wonder what in the slightest is common between them.. Exactly nothing.. But it was fun seeing joey dressed as Santa and Ross dressed as Armadillo competing in front of Ben..

What says Christmas best than a Joey dressed as a Santa..!!

While rest of the plot continues with laughter and drama, where phoebe tries to get Rachel to move out of Joey’s apartment and Chandler goes on a date with Monica.

4)“The One With the Girl From Poughkeepsie” | Season 4, Episode 10

I really enjoy this episode, indeed, it is not very Christmassy but have you ever loved any Christmas song more than Phoebe’s “ The Christmas Song”

“Monica, Monica, have a happy Hanukkah
Saw Santa Claus, he said hello to Ross
And please tell Joey, Christmas will be snowwwwwy..
And Rachel and Chandler, (mumbles something) handler”

Monica hires Joey so that she can fire him in front of other employees, While Ross is trying to date 2 women at once one living uptown, the other 2 hrs away. It is so entertaining seeing him struggle and saying things like..

“Well, I want to give her another chance, ya know? She lives so close. And at the end of the date, she said something that was, if she was kidding, was really funny. On the other hand, if she wasn’t kidding, she’s not fun; she’s stupid and kind of a racist.”

3) “The One Where Rachel Quits” | Season 3, Episode 10

Well, I don’t know about you, but I know one person that hates this episode.. Guess who..?? it’s…Gunther !! you know why.. Rachel finally decides to quit Central perk and go after what she wants. Though it ends up being a blunder for her, it is quite funny. Adding to the fun, Ross accidentally breaks Brown Birds’ scout’s leg and has to fill in for her by selling her cookies.

As I mentioned, bringing cries along with laughter, is their specialty.. They get us all emotional when the whole gang buys all the dead Christmas trees to make Phoebe happy who was worried about them not fulfilling their Christmas Destinies.

Sounds like a perfect Christmassy ending…!!

2)“The One With Phoebe’s Dad” | Season 2, Episode 9

It was a vital episode story-wise, we finally learn more about Phoebe and her strange family. She finally learns the truth about her father and decides to track him down during Christmas. But after taking the journey, she decides she is not quite ready and wants to return.

While Joey and Chandler being their goofy slacker selves wait till the very end to buy the Christmas gifts until the only shopping complex left open is the Gas station. As a result, their gifts include soda cans, condoms, toilet seat protectors..!! making gift-giving hilarious. Well, what else did u expect..

Moreover, Rachel and Monika’s Christmas party turns to be a disaster with all the chaos created after Ross breaks the radiator knob…of course, how could ever things go perfectly in Friends??

But the Christmas song of Nat King Cole, playing behind Phoebe while Joey and Chandler try to talk to her about her dad sets the proper Christmas mood and makes the experience more intense.

1).“The One With Christmas In Tulsa” | Season 9, Episode 10

Well, this definitely is a Christmas episode both technically and literally. I mean the Christmas is in the name itself.. But what makes it special is all the montages of the past Christmas scenes from all the seasons. It was an amazing journey…No, I’m not crying okk..maybe a little bit..

The episode starts with the preparation going on for Christmas and Phoebe narrating a Christmas story. We all love Phoebe’s songs and stories no matter how absurd they are..don’t we..??

But the episode’s highlight is when Chandler sends all the staff home, rejects her co-worker, and quits his job just to be back with his friends for Christmas. Awww, such a the end, all the friends come together and enjoy Christmas like one big happy family..

If you are feeling nostalgic, trust me, this flashback episode is precisely what you want. It is not where some drastic changes or where a climax happens, but surely it gets you all up for Christmas with a Big Smile on your face. Seems like a perfect last Christmas episode.

Season 10

Though having a Christmas episode every season became a tradition, season 10 was missing this holiday. With so much going on and all the drama, Christmas just didn’t make the cut.

Wrapping Up

Woah, it has been one hell of a journey with a roller coaster of emotions, waves of laughter, and ofcourse.. bundles of sarcasm. I wish I could re-do and watch this amazing show again for the first time. All those sarcastic dialogues of Chandler, annoying OCD of Monica, Joey’s unmatched love of food, Ross’s amusing divorces, the fascinating fashion of Rachel, and absurd songs of Phoebe.. got us through the most challenging times of our life. Whether it is distracting ourselves from the chaotic life, or binge-watching with friends on a sleepover.. It definitely holds a number 1 position.

Celebrating Christmas with all these Christmas episodes is hands down the best way to end this year.. C’mon even with the reading go and watch your favorite episodes.. But before that do comment and let me know what was your no.1 episode.
